Ikea sofa?

We desperately need new sofas. We have a busy house with small children and pets, so they must be hard wearing and easily cleaned.

I was looking at idea's sofas as you can filter for ones with removable covers and easily wiped down.

Interested in hearing people's experiences of them?

What style would you choose if the feel of the living room was a bit more country/rustic, rather than modern?

We had an Ektorp for 20yrs. It was super hard wearing and comfy - would recommend. We had a massive throw over it once it got too ragged.

Currently have an ikea corner sofa, grey material, the one you kind of design/build yourself, going into its 4th year of use. I have a toddler & a dog & although it’s not perfect, it’s definitely hard wearing! I took all the cushion covers off just before Christmas & machine washed them all & they washed & dried very well. Wasn’t even that much of a hassle getting them back on!

Thanks for that feedback, they do sound very good!

You can get replacement covers for some of the sofas - might be worth investing when you buy the sofa so you can swap them if you need to.

We had an Ektorp for years, bought a second set of covers so we could swap them over when they needed washing. Very comfy.

Yes, I think this is the way to go for us.

We have a couple of Ikea sofas, as the time we bought them we thought we’d be happy if we got 5 years out of the , we’re now into year 7 and they’re still looking good, being able to remove the cushion covers for washing makes all the difference

We've got a 9yo Ektorp in the playroom so it's taken a real beating over the years but is still a comfy sofa which looks good. I bought spare covers for it at the time but they haven't been used yet.

we had a set of Ektorp sofas throughout the DC's younger years (easily 15). They had a set of new covers during that time and went on to another home via Freecycle. Great value.
