Hi all, not sure if this is best here or on DIY but we had a bad leak recently which caused part of
our bay window ceiling to collapse. The should now be (hopefully) sorted so we’re looking at getting the ceiling patched up.

Does anyone have an idea of how much this might cost? We’ll need new plaster board and I’m aware the whole lot might need done if it’s damaged.

Looking to get an idea before getting quotes as it’s a minefield out there!

Thanks in advance!

We have just been quoted about £2k, but that includes skimming a wall in another room also. Our bay is quite a lot of work though. It will take two of them 2 days apparently, and a few hundred in materials

Thanks for responding @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Can I ask where abouts you are and if that’s for the full bay please?

The whole bay, and the wall the bay is on. We are south east

Just to update, I got a second quote, and it's £1200

Have been quoted £250/day for plasterer + apprentice. It’s not the same type of job (ceiling but not as much work as yours). Bog standard plaster (ie not lime based etc).

Hi I don't know whereabouts you are in the country but we used a guy who's not the cheapest but really does a good job and most importantly reliable. It took us 4 goes to even get someone to come and give us a quote I can believe why they even bother saying they will come and then done. The guy we used A and B Plastering website also has price guides on I dont know how far he travels though.

Would your insurance not pay for this?

I'm based in East Midlands and had my bathroom walls and ceiling done recently, £900. I prepped the walls myself (removed wallpaper) and he had to add a few sheets of plasterboard to certain walls/ceiling. The room was about 6m² (weird L shape but overall size)

Then I called him back to do our outbuilding walls and ceiling about 7.5m², £850. His work is 👌
