Wimborne White, Steamed Milk or Slaked Lime

Please help me choose the perfect not quite white paint, that is not yellow but not stark and clinical. I want it to feel like there is depth and creamy but without the yellow. Rustoleum's Steamed Milk looks perfect but I'm struggling to get it. I've been told F&B Wimborne White or Little Greene Slaked Lime are both similar. Does anyone have these and agree? Are you happy with them?

Ok I’ve never seen Steamed milk in RL only just looked at images. But I’d say Wimborne white is yellower. Slaked Lime a better bet. You could also try Flint which is also by Little Greene.

I have Wimborne white in my living room, in the modern emulation. It’s not yellow. Just like bright white isn’t blue. But what they have done is taken the blue out of pure white, and put a tiny amount of yellow in, so it’s one shade away from bright white but warmer and creamier, I really like it.

I have Wimborne White and love it, it's not too stark, it's fresh but a bit warmer than the stark whites. All our paintwork and ceilings are done in it, and one of the rooms.

I agree re Wimborne. It’s warmer than PBW without being obviously creamy, though it may appear creamy if you are putting it next to a very pale, very cool colour like Blackened.

Fantastic, thank you everyone!

This is Slaked Lime in my kitchen. It’s not a brilliant white but has a softness and warmth to it.

About to use slaked lime on my kitchen walls. TattiePants did you use a different colour on your ceiling?

TattiePants · 10/02/2023 19:11

@WhoInvitedHer yes ceiling is just a bog standard white emulsion.

hi tattie pants .I am also looking at slaked lime. Is this one slakedl ime mid or deep please ?

TattiePants · 22/02/2023 18:24

@vant its just Slaked Lime (not mid or deep). I think the number was 105.

vant · 22/02/2023 19:12

thank you ...looks lovely...so it looks quite a warm colour thought the 105 would be lighter... would u say photo accurate to real life ?

Currently painting all walls and ceilings in slaked lime, my living room is in it and we love it!

Here’s our progress in the attic room - you can see on the ceiling where we are half way through the first coat the difference between the stark white and the slaked lime

I have Wimborne White throughout the house. And did it in the previous house.

It's not yellowy, not too creamy and not stark either.

ApolloandDaphne · 22/02/2023 19:35

My whole house is painted Wimborne white and it is lovely. It's not stark but very soft. I love it.

peplepue · 22/02/2023 20:17

Slacked Lime against white here. We have it throughout the house and really like it. Pic below shows main wall against the white above our picture rail. Taken in evening light with lights on.

Looks quite grey there but doesn't in person

vant · 23/02/2023 22:28

thank you all , so kind to reply. everybodys looks so lovely . actually now throwing in rolling fog light which is a bit darker, if anyone has used. i am so afraid of using darker colours and getting so stressed . i am sure there are more important things in life to worry about, so strange that this can overtake your thoughts !

WhoInvitedHer · 23/02/2023 23:25

On holiday at the moment but painting my kitchen slaked lime 105 on my return. My dilemma now is whether to paint the ceiling and coving in the same colour or brilliant white. Comments welcome 😀

Madoz · 26/02/2023 10:33

I tried Wimborne white - it had a lemony hue to it I didn't like, depends on the light though

Helenabelle · 19/02/2024 14:50

I love watching Wimborne in my north facing lounge

Helenabelle · 29/03/2024 12:42

That looks very yelllw? Is it just the lighting ?

Helenabelle · 29/03/2024 12:43

What did you decide ?

Beenalongwinter · 07/04/2024 19:17

Is slaked lime mid darker than standard slaked lime
And has anyone painted their woodwork in one of the darker slaked lime shades?
