I’m looking for a rug for living bit of living room kitchen diner.

There seems to be a lot of thin viscose and cotton ones which look very thin not very rug like.

what sort of rug for this kind of area. Also what colour would go as I have fallen fowl of quite a bit of grey.

must be muted colours, neutral or Greige.
no primary colours or brightness.

Don't be chicken, go for a bit of brightness.

Nogg · 02/02/2023 21:37

No. Can push to muted faded colours only. I’m just not a colourful person.

I've got this and it's beautiful, on sale now too

Cream one would look nice and fresh. I got one from Dunelm to put under the dining table and on the first night, my son dropped a full plate of curry on it... Dr Beckmans brought it up absolutely amazingly! I can't believe how well it took the stain out. So, don't be afraid to go white!

Nogg · 02/02/2023 21:42

Yes was thinking cream.
was also looking at Louis De Poortere rugs on John Lewis but I couldn’t work out how they were rugs and not just tablecloths?

the Agra rug is nice thanks is it soft or flat weave ?

It's not soft. More a weave. Looks good tho. I went big!

What about jute?

Nogg · 02/02/2023 22:24

Not jute. Too rough and bits break off .

Rag rugs are beautiful and also environmentally friendly! Something like this? https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-anyday-recycled-cotton-chindi-rug/p4021065?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappios&size=l120-x-w180-cm&&_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5Lk1lc3NhZ2U=

Thanks no not that rag rug …….. it’s too reminiscent of student days in the 90s .

A berber rug. Soft, adds some interest whilst still being cream

Nogg · 03/02/2023 09:26

Yes maybe. I had a Berber rug previously it was nice but may prefer something a little more formal? I like the faded Persian style but the ones I have seen are very thin! ( or
too expensive for this area at risk from kitchen mess)

What I'm loving about this retailer is you can order a rug sample for a £1

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/02/2023 10:03

have a look at Ruggable
The top and bottom seperate, and the top bit is machine washable. Really good fir heavy traffic areas.

Loads of Persian style muted colours in Dunelm
