Has anyone had any installed recently?
If so how much did they cost?

Ideally something like this style (pic stolen from Instagram!). I wouldn’t mind MDF and painting them as long as they lasted but don’t want to waste someone’s time quoting me if it’s way out of reach.

Last year £850 in total for both sides of fireplace. However, the person putting it in didn't pass on a big increase in materials between quoting and doing it as they took over a year to get around to it!

We then had to paint it.

About £1800 for 2 alcoves, but a couple of years ago.

I paid £400 a few years ago but only open shelves

Following as am looking to get them done this year

DS has installed Kallax units in his alcoves, adding a few cubes with glass doors and a couple of drawers. They look really good and not expensive. If they are slightly too narrow it is easy to fit a trim at the sides and paint it.
Just an idea if you don't want to pay a lot of money.

It was a one man band local to us. I had just asked around locally for recommendations and someone suggested him. I had tried various others some came out but never came back with a quote.
