Black matt toilet, anyone?

Hello! I am considering buying a black matt toilet. Has anyone got one? I'm interested to know if they are easy to maintain. Do they scratch easily inside the pan, and outside? What cleaning products can/can't you use? I live in a hard water area if that makes any difference too.

Any advice appreciated, thank you!

When I saw your thread title I thought 'fine, as long as you don't live in a hard water area'. Sorry OP but I think you would regret it.

Not in a hard water area

LynneBenfield · 31/01/2023 08:13

Oddly intimidating and a definite no-no in a remotely hard water area

Notjusta · 31/01/2023 08:16

Ohh it looks quite cool, although I think it would be like pooping into Darth Vader's head!

Headstones250 · 31/01/2023 09:00

Not for me, sorry.

redandyellowbits · 31/01/2023 09:02

My friend has one and they look awful esp with hard water but even with soft as she has. They show every little blemish, grim.

There's a reason sanitary ware is usually white.

Reugny · 31/01/2023 09:06

Nope.

Sanitary ware is white because it is more unlikely to be damaged if harsh chemicals are used to get stains off.

Escapefromcolditz · 31/01/2023 09:11

I wouldn’t, unless you are desperate to end up as the focal feature in a “look what I found on Rightmove” thread when you come to sell.

Kitsmummy · 31/01/2023 09:12

Just imagine all the poo stains that you can't really see Envy

MaverickGooseGoose · 31/01/2023 09:13

No

Blanketwars · 31/01/2023 09:15

I have black taps and they are a nightmare to clean - I’m going to have to try to repaint the bottoms somehow as th black has actually come off with scrubbing. I wouldn’t, honestly

NashvilleQueen · 31/01/2023 09:16

I would never feel sure that it was clean

PaulRobinsonsSeventhWife · 31/01/2023 09:20

I have a black matte tap in a soft water area and I'm regularly wiping the marks off it. Wouldn't be getting a black loo even though it's a bit different, just looking at it is giving me smelly nightclub bathroom vibes, sorry.

Betty75 · 31/01/2023 09:22

As people here said, it's white for a reason. Dont risk it unless you are 100% sure

Whatthediddlyfeck · 31/01/2023 09:23

We had one put in recently with black taps etc, but we live in a soft water area so have absolutely no issues with limescale

No

JaninaDuszejko · 31/01/2023 19:13

In a hard water area no. Soft water area it will look cool as long as you keep on top of the cleaning.

LibertyLily · 31/01/2023 20:29

I wouldn't....although we did consider a black basin for our downstairs cloakroom. In the end we decided to go for a statement with the walls and mirror instead. Don't like the idea of poo stains in a black toilet.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 31/01/2023 20:34

I wouldn’t feel relaxed using it. I rely on being able to assess toilet cleanliness at a glance owing to most of them being white.

Also it’s kind of ‘local nightclub’

IheardYouButDontWantToAnswer · 31/01/2023 20:34

No, I don't like it

Saltysnail · 31/01/2023 20:38

Made me think of a smelly nightclub.

Scampi13 · 31/01/2023 22:20

I enjoyed reading all of your comments! Thank you everyone. I have definitely decided the black loo is a big no no!! I live in a hard water area so I can imagine it will be a nightmare with the water marks etc. Thank you all for your thoughts!
