Could I have curtains in the recess of this window ? I’m planning on sewing some myself but could buy some. What do I hang them from ? What sort of header do I need ? I’m thinking NOT a pole as then they would be on the outside.
usually do blinds so clueless.

You need internal window curtain track. It's basically a thin track you can fix on either with sticky pads or screw in with a bracket like blinds. It has with eyes for the hooks. I found them in a caravan.

Is that your kitchen? I’d definitely do blinds, and not curtains, kitchens get quite greasy.

AdamRyan · 30/01/2023 11:07

If you put curtains in that recess they will take quite a lot of light so I think a blind would be better
If you definitely want curtains I'd buy a short curtain track and put it on the frame. Make sure the curtain material is as lightweight as possible and do 1.5 thickness instead of 2 to.minimise the fabric that needs bunching up

does it need anything? i like it how it is .

Why not a Muslin type cloth with a cafe rod holding it up? You could split the cloth so it's in effect 2 curtains

unsync · 30/01/2023 11:35

I'd do a cafe rod 1/2 way. You'll lose a lot of light otherwise.

your window is beautiful. I have what look like lovely windows in some rooms, but they’re really awkward when it comes to fitting soft furnishings!

in your position, I would have a roller blind. It would maximise your light.

BuddhaAtSea · 30/01/2023 11:39

I wouldn’t do anything to it, it’s a kitchen, it’ll get greasy/dirty etc. are you overlooked?

Elasticatedwaist · 30/01/2023 12:56

We’re not overlooked but I’m hoping to create a cosy cottage kitchen vibe.
