Can you put a mirror on a mantelpiece...

... Without putting holes in the wall? Could I balance one on there? I've moved into a rented property and can only use the small picture hooks in walls. I really want a mirror above my fireplace but not sure how to do it without drilling...

Yes, if it has a flat bottom, you can just lean it up against the wall. If it’s rather large and heavy, it won’t budge.

I got some little grippy rubber pads (the kind you can put under the legs of furniture) and stuck them to the bottom edge of my mirror so that I could prop it up on the mantlepiece and not worry about it sliding off. Worked really well!

Be very careful, especially if you have pets/children, mirrors are very heavy and it could be fatal if it fell on someone.

What’s the mantle made of? I’ve used those little tiny plastic command hook things before, stick them flat and used the hook part as a holder for frames so they don’t slip.

Mine's been sitting on the mantelpiece for 20 years.
