Everyday sofa bed - Swyft, Gplan, Cocoon?

I started a similar thread in chat not long ago but didn't get much response so posting again here...

I've been looking for a good quality sofa bed for my daughter to sleep on when she's back from Uni. It needs to be super super comfy and a full-sized double. I've narrowed it down to 3 options:-

  1. The Swyft model 04 is lovely in real life (the only one I've seen), it has a sprung mattress but is very expensive and I'm unsure how the bed will hold up long-term. The two sections of mattress are different sizes and seem to be different firmness. I think it'll be a squash for two people.
  1. I love the look of the G-plan Fifty Four, it is good value and folds out to king-size however it is BIG in both length and width. It'll pretty much take up an entire wall of the room so most definitely maximalist! There are no reviews anywhere however I've had some very helpful advice from a 3rd party seller and they say the it comes with a 25 year guarantee, the quality is the same as the Swyft and it is a slighty softer sleep than the Swyft (mattress is apparently foam, not sprung, I'm not sure how this'll hold up long term).

3.Cocoon sofabeds have excellent reviews, I'm considering the Alice model, but I am a bit dubious about heavily reviewed products. Does anyone have one? Are they as good as all the hype? They have a spring mattress and a love the fact that the bit you sit on, which'll get the most wear, ends up at the foot of the bed.

Please help me decide 🙂

We have a cocoon Alice - I believe it’s a small double. Goes with a particular fitted sheet which you can buy from them. I love ours. An absolute dream to get in and out, and pretty comfy - can’t compare with the Swyft, but much more comfy than the normal sofa beds I had slept on before. I would recommend a mattress protector for extra softness. It also is perfect for smallish spaces. We went to see it in the showroom before but so be prepared, it’s a bit of an odd experience (in a self storage unit).

Does it definitely need to be a proper sofa? If not l, just wondering if you could get something like this and set it up as a day bed with cushions as a back, rather than a sofa bed. This way she gets a proper non folding mattress which is always comfier than a thinner folding one IME. And it’s full sized.

graceinc22 That’s fantastic to hear because I actually ordered a 3 seater Cocoon Alice last week!

The gplan one would have been too big and I thought the swift would be too much of a compromise on bed size.

minipie we did think about a day bed set up but she has a downstairs room that’ll be used as a study and second living room when she’s away so don’t want it to look too bedroomy.

@DragonsFurry Do you have your Cocoon Alice now and has it been used much? How do you rate it?
