Anyone with dark doors?

I'm thinking of painting my interior doors either black or another dark colour. To contrast with white walls. Just wondering if anyone has done this and either regrets it or has advice? I'm worried it will end up looking amateur, cheap and/or mark easily so would like to avoid this.

Painting doors and woodwork black is a current fad and will date quickly imho. Unless you have lots of natural light it will make spaces feel dark and cramped. It might look stylish, whether you can live with it is another matter.

I painted some woodwork a dark colour. Not the doors. It looks nice but i think the hoover scuffs it much more than white paint when i accidently bash it. Dust shows a bit more too.

Agreed. Any scratches and imperfections or simply dust bits look more obvious on dark, especially in the daylight.

Matt black will show the slightest bit of dust

Don’t do it. It looks great on Instagram and terrible in real life. Pop onto RightMove and take a look at some examples of each in semi real life situations.

I was wondering about this too! Good to hear what people think. What about a mid colour instead?
