Curtain track or pole?

It’s for a double window in a dining area off of a kitchen. I like the look of pencil pleat curtains but would prefer not to see the pole. But the tracks I have seen all seem so plastic-y and cheap looking! Not a fan of eyelet curtains, although I do appreciate how easy they are now I am starting to look around!

Would anyone care to share a photo of their curtains that they love?! And how they hung them?

Anyone? I mean, I do realise this is incredibly boring 😆 But a necessity!

What about a pelmet/boxing to hide the track? Like this

You could have pencil pleat curtains and hang them high enough that the pole isn't visible above the curtains? Like this:
www.dunelm.com/product/berlin-soft-grey-blackout-pencil-pleat-curtains-1000194667?defaultSkuId=30756052&ds_c=Curtains_Pencil+Pleat-SmartShopping_%5BGOO-PLA-CURTAINS-PENCILPLEAT%5D&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-NLq_-3i_AIVDdDtCh2tdAOXEAQYBSABEgLrnfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

With a shorter pole you could probably arrange it so the pole doesn't stick out the sides either, if that bothers you.

Curtain tracks are horrid IMO. I just moved into a house that has some and I can't wait to replace them. I'd forgotten they existed tbh!

Track! So much smoother to operate and you barely notice it. Ours just looks like a pole

PARunnerGirl · 25/01/2023 14:03

Great ideas @Booksandwine80 and @bingoitsadingo - thank you!

@Reclining Do you know where you got the tracks, or could you share a photo?

Tracks from Cameron Fuller don't look cheap. In fact, they are quite sturdy www.polesandblinds.com/brands/cameron-fuller/system-30-straight-track

PARunnerGirl · 25/01/2023 17:00

@Betty75 I think this is what I’m looking for! There’s something about curtain rings, or eyelet curtains, and poles that seem really dated to me now. I think a minimal type of rail like this might be ideal.

Don’t recall the name, but this is the metal track in our kitchen…

Oh my this is exactly what I am looking for! I don’t suppose you remember where you got it! Trying to find a track that looks good is providing very challenging. Hope OP has had some joy on this task!

I think these tracks are called ‘wave tracks’ , they conceal the fittings inside a metal/plastic casing.

I like track curtain+ pelmet and poles with curtains, not a big fan of eyelet curtains but I have got them in most rooms. My favourite are my bedroom curtains which are on a track and have a pelmet

@Bucks264 - just checked email from the fitter and they are

rca-uk.com/tracks/metal-track/distinction-range

with the hammered steel finish.

Bucks264 · 05/03/2023 18:03

That’s so helpful thanks so much!

WinterMusings · 05/03/2023 18:12

It's a bloody nightmare isn't it!!

I think some of it is age related too. I'm 54 & curtain tracks/rails are what 'old' people had.

im not keen to go back to that.

I thought I was settled on poles with eyelet curtains, but it sounds like everyone thinks they're dated now.

I'll have another look at these links tomorrow & have a think. But they're currently still shouting 'granny' at me!!

ApolloandDaphne · 05/03/2023 18:19

I have an amazing glide track on my bedroom it looks nice and is very swishy.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/03/2023 18:20

You barely see it.

That does look fab, professionally fitted?

PARunnerGirl · 05/03/2023 18:47

@ApolloandDaphne Lovely! This set-up exactly what I’ve gone for in the end! The curtains are supposed to arrive tomorrow so once they are up I will post a pic.

sorry to have jumped on your thread- loads of great ideas though and so helpful! Could I ask where you got your track from please?

PARunnerGirl · 05/03/2023 18:53

@Bucks264 It was just from Dunelm where I had the curtains made. I went for a more robust/ metal one though, although it’s white. It seems very sturdy but minimal and ceiling fitted so you hardly see it. Hope the curtains hang well! 🤞🏼

Can't wait to see them! I had mine done by a local business. They have been great.
