Hello

I'm redecorating my living room, new sofa on the way and walls are going to be painted Little Greene Light peachblossom (see pic for sofa and paint). Actually chose LG Blush but is far too dark on my walls (looks brownish/terracotta) but peach blossom looks better, it's slightly pinker on my walls than the pic. What I'm stuck with is what to do with the coving, newly skimmed ceiling and the staircase in the room.

It's not a period property (late 80's build) and room is west facing and fairly dark most of the time.

I'm thinking plain old white for the ceiling but would it look weird if the coving was the same colour as the walls? Or should I stick with white? Staircase is currently a very pale grey but needs repainting, should I go with white like the ceiling or go pink like the walls or green like the sofa?

Opinions welcome !

I’d do white coving with a white ceiling, but have you thought about wrapping the colour onto everything – so peach blossom ceiling, coving, walls and skirting, plus door and architrave? Would make ceilings look higher and stops the eye being interrupted with white woodwork. Paint the radiator too!

For the staircase I think green would be good, but white wouldn’t be bad especially if you opt for a white ceiling. Definitely not grey! Or a darker tone of the peach blossom? I know some LG colours have light/mid/dark versions.

I did think about doing the coving and ceiling in the pink but I worry that it might be a bit much, the ceiling are not that high so it might be like being in an odd pink cave! Will definitely paint the radiator though. Will have a look if there's a darker tone of peach blossom for the staircase.......

If your ceiling are low I would stick with white for the actual ceiling , but the coving the same colour as the walls might make the room look taller. I think that would look look quite nice. Definitely paint the radiator to blend in. If there is a wall where you can paint into a corner going up the staircase I would tend to paint it a shade darker than the rest of the room but the same colour IFYSWIM.

So my painting is done (I had the coving done to match the walls, looks great!) and I have the new sofa but I am struggling with what to do with the curtains.

The walls are very slightly more pinky than the pic above looks and the sofa is a bit brighter, think peacock kinda colour. I’m thinking bright mustard/ochre colour (I have some cushions in this colour and they look surprising good with the teal/peacock colour of the chair/sofa but worried this might be too much?
Gold and hot pink are also being debated. Would deep blue look good despite no other blue in the room currently?
