Has anyone bought bedding from La Redoute?

We need some new bedding and a couple of the florals on La Redoute look promising. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with bedding from there?

Me!

Purchased a double duvet set for teenage son. Would not recommend. Poor quality & paper thin.

MargotChateau · 09/01/2023 04:22

I haven’t bought bed linen from there, but I did buy table linen and it’s shit. Wish I had returned it, but I was heavily pregnant and never got around to it. Avoid!

Star print bedding

Scrunchcake · 09/01/2023 08:48

Ah, thanks you two. Definitely sounds like I shouldn't get drawn in!

I got some recently and I love it..I am definitely going to get some more!

We bought some bedding for the spare bed from there - 100% cotton, but somehow still felt like polycotton, maybe the treatment of it, maybe missold.

The most annoying thing, though was the small aperture that you need to feel the duvet through. It's not like a duvet cover with a fully-opening foot-end, instead there is a kind of tube of fabric, that you stuff the duvet through, then somehow need to straighten and align it in the cover (and tuck the tube under the foot of the mattress). Complete PITA.

Yes but years ago, their 100% cotton stuff.
Excellent value and it's still going strong 20 years later and more.
But no idea what it's like now. If it's still good value and nice designs I'd take a punt on it to be honest.
Only reason I stopped buying from them is their website was utter pants to use - but again, that was a long time ago. Then I just stopped looking at them.

Todaynotalways · 09/01/2023 08:52

*feed the duvet through...

Wheretogo23 · 09/01/2023 08:53

I got a matching sheet and because you can buy pillowcase separately got 4 the same.
I got this
www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350117540.aspx#shoppingtool=treestructureflyout

I use them a lot and no problems with refunds or delivery

FruitBadger · 09/01/2023 08:55

I was looking at some for DS but wanted pillow cases too. I was put off because they were large square cushion style covers, not the same shape as the pillows we already have. They're also sold separately, not as a set.

I once ordered curtains from them.
Or should I say 'curtain' as they apparently didn't sell them in pairs 🤣

You see that could be REALLY useful, I've got a room with three windows the same size that are too slim to usefully take a pair of curtains in each window - so I need 3 curtains.

In fact you've convinced me to look at their website again - I was looking for a curtain solution! Thank you.

HadEnoughOfBears · 09/01/2023 10:31

@heldinadream
It was a few years ago and in their defence it did say on their website but I just assumed!
Hopefully it's of some help to you 😀

Yes, I bought a quilt cover, 100% cotton which I really like. It's good quality I'd say, comparable to M&S. The opening for quilt doesn't have poppers but it's easy to put on/off. I really liked their floral prints too and colours are nice.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 09/01/2023 11:06

I've bought several and never had any issue. Love them all. Their deep sheets are the deepest I've ever bought and the only ones that won't eventually ping off the corners.

I only buy the 100% cotton ones, I have no idea what people mean saying they don't 'feel' like cotton?

Also - not all of them have the envelope opening, I've got at least three sets, two have buttons and one has an envelope thing which I agree is annoying!

@FruitBadger they do housewife pillows but if they're out of stock in your chosen pattern they won't show up. I can confidently say though that all sets have a matching housewife pillowcase as I spent hours searching just before Christmas Grin

I genuinely love La Redoute especially for home goods.

MenaiMna · 09/01/2023 12:23

Only in the sale as they're overpriced. Variable quality but I only buy 100% cotton & descriptions show the GSM which is the thread count so I can tell what quality I'm buying. It's hard to find nice sk duvet covers and a variety of pillow cases (square, oblong & bolster) to match so I'm quite loyal. They are also one of the few places to do small dbl fitted sheets in 100% cotton. As pp say the apertures on duvet covers can be a bit odd designs. Open an account, you'll get free returns so if you don't like what you've chosen you'll only ever pay the standard postage.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 09/01/2023 12:46

Oh yeah I agreed @MenaiMna - only in the sales!

@Scrunchcake - use Honey and Topcashback and NEVER buy full price from them. They have sales of up to ridiculous amounts, like 60% most months so just wait a week if it's looking a bit expensive.

Fabellini · 09/01/2023 12:53

I bought a set for ds’s room. I liked the design but the quality of the fabric (100% cotton) isn’t great, it’s very thin, and a bit hard feeling compared to other duvet covers we have from M&S for example.
The pillowcases also seem a little short so that the pillows are kind of squashed in, and one of them has come apart and frayed right along the seam.
I’m disappointed as I still like the design, but I wouldn’t buy bedding from them again.

Scrunchcake · 09/01/2023 20:58

Very mixed reviews - thanks everyone. I would definitely stick to sale time and thanks for the tip about an account @MenaiMna 👍 (plus to look at GSM - to be honest that wouldn't have occurred to me!)

cotton percale not good quality and scratchy

LINDAHOAD · 07/06/2024 22:15

rubbish duvet cover design and cotton not smooth scratchy

LINDAHOAD · 18/06/2024 09:39

purchased some bedding cotton but not soft like cotton also opening for duvet is hopeless - sent it back and they refunded

minipie · 18/06/2024 09:45

I have a couple of their kids’ duvet covers. I agree they’re not as good quality as some others we have but those were a lot pricier (GLTC I think). The envelope opening is fine, I find buttons always come off after a while so prefer it to buttons.

You get what you pay for basically!
