What to put in this corner?

NC from my usual and excuse the dog!

Previously we had a long white TV stand with cupboards under and the TV on it, we also had the Christmas tree in this corner.

Have now got a new telly (hung on the wall as you can see) and have taken the tree down and it looks so bare! What would you put there?

For info it’s the corner of a big kitchen diner so we don’t need anymore storage. I was thinking a big plant but I’m fairly rubbish with plants and end up killing most of them…

I had a similar blank corner which i hated when i took the tree down. Today i bought this plant and some battery operated lights (they are £2.99 in Dobbie's at the moment). It looks very nice now.

A bookcase. You can never have enough bookcases, can you - and then you can put a plant on the top of it.

@ApolloandDaphne That does look very nice now - particularly with the fairy lights.

@TheShellBeach I do love a good bookcase but we have two floor to ceiling ones in the front room and all have kindles now!

I would love to be someone who could ‘curate’ some shelves/a bookcase with some bits and pieces arranged ‘just so’ to look casual but oh so elegant but sadly I am not…

what with the crystal and the clear area and the daylight, good energy flow in that corner imo!

@QuertyGirl I suppose it does look restrained from that angle! This is very outing but it’s not really - it has a massive mural of tower bridge on the opposite wall and some bright artwork around

I have a great fake plant from IKEA, but The Range also sell some lovely ones and they are cheaper. I think a plant would be ideal.

If you do buy a big plant please think about where you will put it next year when you put up the Christmas tree. I bought a lovely money plant from ASDA last Easter and put it in the corner where we have the Christmas tree right next to a big south facing window. It loved that spot and grew huge over the summer and so I had a small tree taking up space in my bedroom during December because I couldn't work out where else to put it! No idea what I'll do next year if it's even bigger? I'll need to consider an extension 😂

Big colourful beanbag ? Or a comfy armchairs for reading in.

Actually really feeling that yellow chair - the kitchen is dark blue but I have a large yellow duck by the sink and a vase of fake sunflowers on the island…

DH has a corporate furnished flat for work at the moment. The "designer" shoved a 2 metre fake yucca-type plant in the corner, next to the TV.

I'm pretty certain that a real one wouldn't survive the combination of radiators and draughty old windows.

There is wire in most of the stems/leaves, so you can bend them away from getting in the way.

I got it at Dobbies.
