Door/window curtains same fabric? Too much pattern?

House is going on market next year so need your opinions.

I'm thinking of this fabric for the 2 windows (smallish dining room) but should I do same for the French doors (same room)?

My instinct is to buy a plain ready-made door curtain in a beige/cream in order to avoid overkill with the pattern/green colour but would it look a bit weird having two different curtain fabrics in the same room?

I’d use the same fabric. It isn’t an overly busy pattern so won’t overwhelm anything.

That’s a lovely pattern - where is it from?

Thank you 😊

Have them all matching.

Same fabric. I have a blind and door curtain in different fabrics in my hallway and it's a bit jarring. Unfortunately I can't afford the blind fabric for the curtains!

cantforthelifeofme · 16/12/2022 17:00

Would you say have them matching to save the hassle of having different fabrics (it's actually so much easier if I buy ready-made door curtain rather than make it myself) or is advice based on design point of view?

Many thanks- I really appreciate your opinions. I kind of want to do non-matching but worry this will be odd when people view the house when it's on the market.

personally I think it looks better matching, particularly if they are close to one another but it isn't going to affect a house sale in the slightest

Mosaic123 · 16/12/2022 17:47

Matching looks best.

Don't spend too much if you are planning to move.

The odds are very during that any new buyers will want a different fabric.

Yours is pretty but not everyone will like it.

Plain is safer.

I'm going against the mood here, but I would do blinds in the pattern and doors in a block fabric picked from the colour way.

I have door curtains everywhere and they can be a bit of an expanse in a pattern.

LibertyLily · 16/12/2022 21:02

I'm also going against the grain as I love mixing patterns and textures in fabrics, so I'd probably also go for something different for the main and door curtains....although not necessarily a plain fabric for either!

It's interesting when you ask people's opinions and you realise to had already made a decision in your head 😂

I think I'll go with the green pattern on the windows then use the same creamy colour from this fabric for a plain door curtain.

After all, I have different fabrics in my bedroom for curtain, duvet, blankets, cushions, throws and it's an old cottage (though a modern extension) so not going for a catalogue look.

Thank you all for your responses. Really appreciate it. Time to get sewing! 😊
