Advice on cushion washing instructions (boring, soz!)

I bought a cushion from the charity shop; it's Christmassy with white writing on a red background. I didn't notice until I got it home that the wash instructions are "do not wash. wipe clean only". The cushion is cotton / polyester (70/30) and the filling is 100% polyester.

Why can't I wash it? Do we think that the colour will run?

More than likely the company couldn’t be bothered to wash test it so they just put ‘do not wash’ to cover themselves. I’d risk it, pop it in with a colour catcher.

Cold water wash, maybe?

You might be right!
I did a test wash and it seemed OK so I hand-washed the whole thing. The filling might be clumping but if it's still like that after it has dried then I'm happy to re-stuff the cushion.
