Good quality wardrobe wanted - but must be self-assembly!

I have an awkward shaped house and cannot get readily built wardrobes either up stairs or into rooms (small & restricted landing area).

I could buy ikea wardrobes but I'd like something that looks nicer - and doesn't have the flimsy "cardboard" back panel.

Is there anything out there??

I spent AGES looking and went with Pax - I was reluctant as the Pax in our old house (not bought by us) was horrendous.
I've been really really impressed with the quality of it, and the process was really easy (we did an online appointment and the woman was SO helpful and I had her work email address for quick questions too).
Also the price was fantastic compared to what we were looking at paying elsewhere, and the service was miles better than anywhere else too!

Have you considered a made to measure sliding robe?

I've had a pax and raunch sliding robes and they are both self assembly.

They are great till you need to decorate or replace a carpet unless you get a pax and build around to which seems a popular choice.

ercol wardrobes are good,
dreams/feather and black do some beautiful wardrobes as do barker and stonehouse. All very solid pieces
