Hard mattress help...topper?

I've recently moved into a house as a single parent, two teenagers and a toddler. The teenagers mattresses are really firm though, too much so. Is there a really good preferably not extortionate mattress topper that can make it feel softer? Any recommendations gratefully received!

We got a tussoy from ikea for our very hard sofa bed. Only slept on it once myself and it made it much better. Lent it to my parents when their new mattress turned out to be like sleeping on a concrete slab, and they say it’s made a massive difference.

Having said that, it might be worth looking on Amazon this weekend for the Black Friday discounts. You can usually get a good idea of how good something is from the reviews if there are plenty.
