How do I choose lamps?

As part of prepping the house for sale have decided to purchase lamps to create ambiance 😃but haven’t a clue what types to buy. Like a classy contemporary look.

Am wanting:

  • floor standing lamp that will stand beside the sofa
  • a desk lamp for home office
  • one to stand on drawers in bedroom

There's so much choice and I don't know what I'm looking for. Can someone help me?

You need Pooky - they do the best selection.

Thanks Byelaws will take a look.

If you don’t want to spend much if they’re just for dressing the house, these from Dunelm are fantastic (also come in green, silver and clear):

I have four of these in my house and really like their simplicity:

La Redoute do good looking, not too pricey lamps.
Pooky are lovely but mostly more trad in style.

Also have a look at houseof and lightsandlamps

Don’t just get any old lamp that will ‘do’. Buy lamps that you really like as presumably you’ll take them to your new home?
