Where would you buy a bed from

DS (almost 15, 6ft 5) is currently sleeping in a 3/4 double bed that I bought second hand a couple of years back. It had only been used as a guest bed when I bought it so was in great condition.

Thanks to him flopping into it regularly I knew it needed replacing reasonably soon however tonight he's shown me that the mattress has separated and so there's a 'trench' in it. So i need to buy him a new one.

Found a nice one on Dreams. Divan with two drawers and firm mattress for £409 but delivery is 17 January!

I'll look.properly tomorrow on the laptop but where's your go to bed shop? Dreams? Bensons? Ikea puts me off because of having to buy all the bits separately.. Thanks.

We have bought 2 good quality wool mattresses from mattressonline, next day delivery.

Comfiest bed ever.

M&S

LadyLolaRuben · 20/11/2022 23:21

Dreams are the best firm to use. I won't go anywhere else. Benson were dreadful on 2 experiences I had

Oak Furniture Land, but agree with @Neveranynamesleft, if you only need a mattress, mattressonline are good & they’ll take your old one away.

John Lewis.

I usually go to JL, but for DS I'd go straight to IKEA as their mattresses are great value and very comfortable.

Soozikinzii · 21/11/2022 05:15

Mynextmattress online are very good I've had a couple from them .

Ikea beds and mattresses are really good. Not sure what you mean by you have to buy it all separately? If you buy a bedframe rather than a Divan then there’s a choice slats, that’s literally it.

We got ours from dreams, take him into a store for guidance and your budget. You can lie on a special bed and it takes images based on your height, weight, preferred sleeping position etc and comes up with recommendations. I found the staff super helpful. Their dates on delivery were also spot on. Those are long delays so they may have similar beds with shorter delivery, but it is Christmas so maybe not.

We need a new bed and are looking at John Lewis and M&S, will probably leave it until the January sales now

Thanks everyone. Lots of places to check out. Smile

I just go to the nearest bed shop (not a chain store) and try the mattresses out myself. I bought a great bed with a nice memory foam mattress from a random bed shop down the road from me! Maybe if you have any local ones, try it out. You may be surprised by the quality
