Tiling and entrance hall wall?

I live in a ultra modern house with white walls in an area with lots of rain and mud! We’ve just created an entrance hall which is brilliant because it means I can towel my dogs off in it before letting them into the rest of the house. But when it’s been raining they always shake themselves when they come in ft a walk and are make the wet and muddy. I’m thinking of tiling the walls 1/2 way to protect them and ir will be easy to wipe it down. Just not sure what it will look like a bit to bathroomy? Has anyone done this?

It does sound practical. Perhaps the quite fashionable wooden panelling would look better? Painted in something wipe able?

Sorry but I think it would look too much like a bathroom with tiles on the walls. Agree wood panelling with suitable paint might be better?

How about a Spanish look? They’ll tile anything!

It was very common to half tile Victorian porches so I don’t see why not.

thank you for your replies.I know some Victorian houses have tiled entrance halls This is why I was thinking about it my slight concern apart from it look lavatorial is that my house is an ultra modern design so I can’t decide if it will work? I hate choosing tiles but was vaguely looking at non bevel edged hopefully sophisticated metro tiles rather than rusticy ones.

My gran's hallway had a dado rail and then gloss painted anaglypta wallpaper beneath it - which might not be your thing, but perhaps panelling or something might work?

What about glass panels - like a glass splash-back but made to measure?

IseeScottishhills · 09/11/2022 10:48

Yes I did vaguely wonder about glass panels we already have it in the kitchen about the work tops and it would possibly suit the house better. I’m off to Google image it.
