Cheap tips for big changes?

Am wanting to make big changes to our home but I'm willing but not creative (too clumsy) and am on a very limited budget. My abusive ex used to live with us and now he's gone I want to change the look of the place to help us move on psychologically. There's me and my tween DC. I tried a throw on the sofa to change the colour but it keeps sliding off. I've redecorated my wardrobe doors and that was quite satisfying. Not sure what else to do...

Well done on your separation it sounds like the best thing you could do- but not easy Flowersyou could Frenchic paint your wooden furniture, it's easy but you need 3 coats. Buy the lazy range.
Search fb marketplace for things to upcycle.
I painted my kitchen cupboards in my old house and changed handles with ikea ones. It looked nice Smile

Thanks 😊
We don't really have much wooden stuff, I'm not sure I can cope with upcycling 😬am thinking more along the lines of easy things I can buy/freecycle. Like for the bathroom I saw a big sticker thing to go on the back of the door so it looks like a tropical landscape. I love a bit of kitsch 😁

You could wallpaper one wall in the rooms, it may only take one roll, or just the chimney breast or either side. Maybe buy some pictures to go on blank walls, charity shops always have pictures quite cheap, and the Range sell quite reasonable priced large pictures. You could even buy a picture frame and put pretty wrapping paper or material inside. Mirrors always brighten a place up too.
