Blackout curtains

Could anyone recommend some blackout curtains that are actually blackout?

Need some new ones for the bedroom but every time I've bought them previously, they are not exactly blackout.

Happy to pay a bit more for food pens however ideally ones that won't cost a fortune!

Curtains don’t work as well as blinds have a mooch for some that fit the whole window

We have John Lewis black out curtains and they've always been very good. We even have cream ones in our bedroom and they don't let any light in at all.

I recently bought some lined habitat blackout thermal curtains and they are very good

The problem is usually light leakage rather than the quality of the curtains.
For total blackout I suggest blackout blinds + blackout curtains plus a box pelmet.

Light will always come in from the sides and top. Especially if you have a curtain pole as opposed to a track. Worst of all is the eyelet blackout curtains.

We've got blackout blinds inside the window recess, and then heavy lined/interlined curtains outside the recess. You will always get light bleed with just curtains unless they're ceiling fixed and fit wall to wall. It also means that it really helps keep the heat in so worthy of the investment.

Dunelm do a few ranges of proper black out curtains, they come in quite a few sizes and colours and they're lined with black out lining so do work really well x
