Grey or white grout?

Tiler is about to lay out bathroom wall tiles. We've chosen this tile:

Not sure whether it looks better with white grout or grey grout. The flooring will be LVT so won't need to worry about that.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

I'd go with grey, it needs something the break up the white tiles, also white grout will get dirty quickly, the grey will look much better for much longer.

Definitely white. Grey grout is already ageing and you want your bathroom to be classic and still look fresh in a couple of years

ThirdTimeIsTheCharm · 26/10/2022 02:28

I would go with white because most grout cleaning products have whitening agent.

We have grey and it looks dirty! I wish we'd had white.

I’ve moved into a new build and the kitchen has white tiles with grey grouting. I hate the look of it. It just looks grubby and breaks the line of the walls up but not nicely. Wish they’d used white.

sarahc336 · 26/10/2022 06:39

White for a white tile I'd say x

strawberry2017 · 26/10/2022 06:50

I hate our grey grout I. The bathroom, it's dirty and I can't get it clean.
It looks a mess

SavingsThreads · 26/10/2022 08:24

Depends if you're in a hard water area? Limescale build ups on grey are really hard to get rid of

Livingbestlife · 26/10/2022 08:33

We have large white marble porcelain tiles, I really wanted white grout however, my husband who is a Tyler insisted on light grey!! As no matter how much you clean them, high traffic areas will change colour compared to say the edges of the room. Hate to say it hubby way right and the light grey stays consistent throughout 👍
Hope that helps x

I think it depends on how dark the grey grout is if you are going grey. Pale grey can just look like dirty white, a much darker grey looks deliberate. Grout is porous so will absorb colour and dirt. This is why there is a move toward resin grouts which do not discolour, but they are expensive and take skill to do.

crossstitchingnana · 26/10/2022 08:38

We have grey tiles with black grout and it looks amazing.

With white I would go more charcoal.

PickledWilly · 26/10/2022 08:55

We have the same tiles in our downstairs loo and went with cream/ivory grout. It looks great!

caringcarer · 26/10/2022 09:07

I have recently tiled kitchen in btl with white Metro tiles. I thought white grout but tiler persuaded me to go for a charcoal grey. They do look good and white can get grubby.

handbagsandholidays · 26/10/2022 09:15

We've gone with greybto match grey tiles and it looks great. If we had white tiles I'd go with white as grey would just look like dirty white x

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/10/2022 09:16

White. Grey looks very dated.

SalviaOfficinalis · 26/10/2022 09:17

I love my white tiles with grey grout. It depends what look you want really!

healthadvice123 · 26/10/2022 09:45

I think dark grey grout looks good with white tiles
We have white grout and its filthy and cannot get it back to looking white again

Calmbeforethestorm3 · 26/10/2022 10:18

Thanks all for helping me to decide. Will be popping to the tile shop with my tile to look at the different grouts.
Saw this image of the same tile on insta and looks lovely with white grout on the walls

I would go with white. To me white looks cleaner and is more modern.

ouch321 · 26/10/2022 10:30

Unquestionably white.

SkylightSkylight · 26/10/2022 10:38

In the insta photos the tile looks beige.

definitely need to take the tile in & have a look.

my bathroom tiles are grey (do not care about the MN grey hate, they're large Matt tiles and I still love them!! They're a bit darker than yours so the paler grey grout looks fab and the grout doesn't get gritty AtAll.

I personally wouldn't use grey or any colour grout darker than the tile, but that's just a personal preference.

Mosaic123 · 26/10/2022 11:03

There is a colour of grout called Jasmine (in the brand of grout called Mapei) which if your tiles are the colour you say (bone ivory) would probably look good.

It is a pale beige type colour.

White will not look best and will get grubby unless you have epoxy grout which is what they use in swimming pools and hotels and is more plasticy and does not stain.

You could also think about a colour such as a quirky colour such pale pink, blue or green, but I would suggest considering the Jasmine as a neutral colour to go with ivory coloured tiles.

Squizzas · 26/10/2022 12:55

These are ours. They actually look better in the pics. They look more grubby in real.

Grey on floors because it will end up grey anyway.
