Mosaic tiles in bathroom

Bathroom refurb. Thought maybe go with a border of mosaic. Now wondering if it's dated. Bought tiles already. Any ideas what to do that's a little bit different?

I think a border is a little dated.

How about a wide stripe from ceiling to floor? Or mosaic inside a storage niche?

I thought of a niche with a whole tile in, or maybe just the shelf. Also thought if cutting the large mosaics and having small scattered squares, maybe 9x9 tiles.

Where would you put a stripe?

It’s common to put a wide stripe floor to ceiling where the shower controls and plumbing are going - has the benefit that if the shower plumbing ever needs repairing you only need to remove the mosaic tiles and don’t need to remove and then try to match the “main” tiles.

For most up to date I think using them inside a niche is your best bet.

The 8cm thick, “dado rail” horizontal line of feature tiles is pretty dated IMO. If you Iove it, do it.

But if it’s to break up an expanse of saminess, then a niche, or vertical band is better imo.
