Carpet colour - flat

Just wondering about carpet colours. Thought it would be easy as I’m not too fussy, but I went into the carpet shop and boom! The perfect carpet did not show itself!

Firstly it’s for a flat - hallway and 2 bedrooms.
I’ve just had the walls painted white as keeping it neutral to sell.
It’s cheap carpet as it’s felt backed as carpet plus underlay is too thick for the doors.

I thought a grey-beige colour would be perfect but I couldn’t find one in the selection to choose from.
There were some light greys, dark grey-black mix, browns….
I did like the dark grey/black one (anthracite), it wasn’t plain or patterned, just mixed up a bit, I can’t describe it. Is this a bad colour? It’s not what a colour I’ve ever chosen before in houses, and the paler grey just seems dated.
Any ideas?

I found dark grey/black carpets showed every speck of fluff or dust so always looked untidy. And made the room look smaller than a more neutral beige

I think dark grey looks cold. I'd go for a beige or grey/beige preferably one with a slight fleck. Beiges with yellow in them look more dated than those with less yellow. I think grey looks dated now.
