Dulux or Johnstones Colour matching with F&B

We have a few rooms (bedroom, living, dining room) to paint in our new home and looking to colour match F&B Shaded White and Wimborne White.

What finish is best in Dulux or Johnstones? Just the trade matt interior paint? I don't want anything shiny. There are so many options I don't know the difference between them.

Johnstone is a better match usually.

RaininginDarling · 13/10/2022 15:22

I use Johnstone. I'm just back from the paint shop with 5litres of mouses back!

Rascalsandradishes · 13/10/2022 16:29

Another vote for Johnstones.

I've used Johnstones acrylic durable Matt throughout my house. It's a great finish and scrubbable which is a huge bonus!

I am thinking about a Johnstone's match for Wimborne white also but am not certain how accurate it will be.

Nolosomi · 13/10/2022 16:37

Johnstone’s is brilliant. Actually better quality paint than F&B!

Lellochip · 13/10/2022 16:49

Go for the acrylic durable if you go for Johnstones - I have both that and the covaplus vinyl matt. Both decent colour match and look, but the covaplus marks terribly!

HanleyGirl123 · 13/10/2022 17:10

Thank you. Johnstone Acrylic Durable Matt it is.

What about paint for woodwork? Our decorator suggest Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood but I want that colour matched too. Any recommendations?

I hate Johnson's paint. There white went to a off white in about 12 months. I'd never use it again.

Johnstons trade paint is a proper match to F&B. Dulux, just gives you the closest colour from their, huge, range, but it's not always good. I use durable matt emulsion from Johnstons and it's great. Speak to a small independent paint shop and they'll give you all the help you need on the right type of paint for the job

I colour matched Inchyra Blue F&b with Dulux Heritage range as it was cheaper and better quality in my opinion. It looks great! I have used Dulux Heritage in several rooms and am really pleased with the quality. Their trade Matt is also excellent.

You might find that Johnson's won't be a lot cheaper now than Farrow and Ball prices. We had a Little Greene paint colour-matched and then had to buy another litre a few weeks ago and found they've had a massive price hike - it worked out only a few pounds cheaper than Little Greene!

We are getting painting done soon and lots of people have recommended Johnstone colour match.

Do you have to go in store or do they do it online?

Thanks

HanleyGirl123 · 13/10/2022 20:45

We are going to order it via Brewers and have it delivered.

I've colour matched Valspar to Farrow & Ball and it's fab!

I went for acrylic matt - for the hallway (we're rural and have muddy pets half the year)
