Wallpaper or paint?

Our walls are in a terrible state. They're old, they've been patched many a time. We're on a street with speed bumps, the walls shake and crack all the time. Neighbourhood campaign going on about that, that's a whole other thread.

In big living areas we always choose wallpaper with a bit of a texture. We're now doing a smallish bedroom for ds10 and I'm not sure what to do.

Paint is quicker and easier, but his walls have lots of filled holes in them so it will never look great. But hes 10 and has walls covered in posters anyway. He often sellotapes some of his favourite school work to the walls, he's always making and drawing.

So do we just repaint to make it fresh and think about wallpaper when hes grown up a bit? Or is there a wallpaper out there that will stand up to having sellotape or blu tack pulled on and off a hundred times without looking shit?

I'm actually leaining towards paper, having filled and sanded the walls they are not pretty. But you'd probably see the uneven patches through wallpaper too. And his walls will be covered in pictures soon enough anyway. And paint can easily be freshened up, right?

Skimming not an option, don't have the time or money for getting anyone in.

Not sure why I'm so tied in knots about this decision. What would you do?
