Needing carpet recommendations please

My radiator in my living room burst and the carpet is ruined (we’ve had the dehumidifier on for past two days and it’s draining out BUCKETS of water. The room stinks and I can’t bear to go in, the smell is so awful. We’ve dumped lots of bicarbonate of soda onto the carpet and underlay, with little effect.

I went into Tapi Carpets and Carpet Right this evening, and have been quoted approx. £600 by both companies for carpet, underlay and fitting and delivery. It’s pretty big standard twist like carpet in beige (I’ve got 3 DC and a dog so need something quite resilient).

Can anyone recommend which carpet company would be best to go with, or any other recommendations? I’m desperate for it to arrive quickly and not be more than £600 as our energy bill has just gone from £80 pm to over £400 pm so every penny counts.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Claim on your house contents insurance.

I spoke with the insurance company but because it is classed as "escape of water" it will be £750 excess. Going to try and salvage what we can of the current carpet.
