What colour blind?

I’m going round in circles and DH is no help! I previously had a roller blind on both the window and French doors in my kitchen but we’ve decided to go with curtains over the door and a Roman blind at the window to make the room a bit warmer. Should I use the curtain fabric for the blind or will that look too fussy? Or would a plain white or dark blue blind look better?

I think I would go with the curtain fabric, there's no other pattern in the room and it's quite a big space so I don't think it would look too fussy

I'd go for the curtain fabric. It's lovely!

I think a Roman blind in that fabric would be too much in the kitchen.

personally I wouldn't put a Roman blind over that bench/sink anyway I'd put a white wooden slat blind or a plain colour roller blind.

love your kitchen/diner/family room.

I actually bought the curtains for my landing but found some other ones that I liked better. I think it’s because I’ve had 13 years of a simple roller blind then a year with nothing up that having pattern in the rain on is a big change. The curtain fabric is the more expensive option but at least I can order it now. If I have to go out and look for other fabric that’ll take weeks and winter’s coming……

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination its a really cold room and we’ve done as much as we can to warm it up. My thinking was, curtains and a fabric blind can have thermal lining which will hopefully keep the heat in.

I think having a different fabric in the kitchen would look odd - the curtain fabric is nice and will tie the two spaces together.
Are you making it yourself? If you are - fabric costs aside if you don't like it you can always change it!

TattiePants · 24/09/2022 15:34

@AdelaideRo id love to be able to make it myself but wouldn’t have a clue where to start. It’s also about 2.4m wide so will need double width fabric.

Bloody MN STILL keeps eating posts!!

@TattiePants I get what you mean about the cold!!

in your situation, assuming I could afford it, I'd get warmer looking/feeling, thermal lined, curtains for the door. In a nice warm colour.

I'd save those ones for the spring summer.

I'd put a thermal lined, fabric, roller blind in the kitchen.

id get a big machine washable runner for in front of the sink & a big washable mat for under the table. (There are lots of nice ones these days) .

then some really cosy looking cushions/throws for the sofa.

then come summer, clean them &
pack them all away until next winter & enjoy the open look & cool tiles.

Can I ask where your fabric is from please? It would look perfect in my room.

It looks like a Bluebell Grey pattern

LynneBenfield · 24/09/2022 15:53

@NoraEphronsNeck, sorry it’s Bluebellgray with an ‘a’.

TattiePants · 24/09/2022 16:09

Yes they’re from Bluebellgray but via John Lewis as their own website didn’t have the length I needed. I’ve just hung these on my landing (also from Bluebellgray) and I’m really impressed with them. 100% cotton

I'd definitely go for the blind in the curtain fabric! It'll look fab!!! 😊

I have nothing helpful to add, but I must say that, at first glance, I thought the woman in the first photo was wearing an extremely long black cape/cloak with a hood 😆

Love the fabric OP! My living room is the same colour as your walls, and now I'm very tempted...

Also, your wee cat squished into your sofa cushions is adorable Grin
