Does anyone know how comfy the IKEA Hemnes bed is?

Awful! I slept (didn't actually) in one last weekend at a friend's house. Never again.

I guess it depends which mattress you have with it?

ContadoraExplorer · 24/09/2022 18:13

We had a double one (as in not the day bed) as a spare bed with a decent mwmory foam mattress and everyone who slept in it loved it. We had to use it while we were getting work done and it was v comfy although I prefer a firmer mattress if I were using it full time.

The day bed? I've slept in ours of the odd night as both a single and a double and it's fine. I think I got the more expensive mattresses when I bought it, but that was about seven years ago so can't really remember.

DS has one but we’ve put a decent mattress on it and it’s fine

FlounderingFruitcake · 24/09/2022 18:19

It’s a bed frame… the mattress you choose will be what makes it comfy, or not!

If you mean the day bed? Not at all. The mattresses are flimsy. It’s just about bearable as a narrow single, but as a double it’s very uncomfortable.

SalviaOfficinalis · 24/09/2022 18:21

The day bed - not at all comfortable.
The normal bed frames, very nice (depending on mattress of course).

The day bed - I'm tiny but found it claustrophobic as a single.

I have the hemnes king size and a mid range ikea mattress and find it very comfortable.
maybe it depends on what you are used to but for me a 5’9 size 16 i find it very comfortable

My daughter has the day bed with the more expensive mattresses. We both find it comfortable as a single with the mattresses on top of each other or as a double.

It slides out smoothly.

It's very sturdy with really good storage space underneath for the spare duvet and bedding.

We thought the Hemnes would be too claustrophobic with the sides, so went with the style without any. The mattresses were from Ikea but are more the memory foam ones. My parents slept on it pulled out and slept great, and we use it quite a bit as a single now due to snoring/disparate sleep times. Also get a ton of storage underneath in those drawers.
