Tell me about snuggle chairs

Hello
I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to stay downstairs to read/watch stuff as my default is to snuggle up in bed.
And I’ve realised that I struggle to feel comfy on our sofas or armchair. I have a problematic back and feel achy if I’m not supported at the sides.
our armchair is big but still too narrow for my to curl my legs up.
Do I need a snuggle chair? Can anyone recommend a make? Ideally velvet 😊
TIA

We have one. It's navy velvet Joules from DFS. It's absolutely divine!

I've got one from Snug. It looks lovely, but if you sit on it properly, I feel too upright and if I curl up on it, the back and arms aren't high enough for me.

@PickledWilly which style of joules do you have?

Make the most of being able to curl
up because one day you can & then you suddenly realise you can't anymore!!

😭

If you have back issues isn't curling your legs under you the worst thing you can do?. I bought a footstool. Life changing in terms of being able to be properly comfortable whilst sitting upright.

Yes, it's not good for your back, hips or knees! But it's wonderful!'

I can't use a footrest, it kills my knees!!

I would be most comfortable in a recliner, but I don't want to resort to an old lady chair yet! So currently sit on the sofa with a number of cushions under my knees!! 🙄🙄

Patterdale is the one we have

I also have one

Debated for a long time through lockdown what new sofas we'd have afterwards (was due to sort before it became impossible)

We had a corner sofa before that.

I love mine and can confirm they are comfy for curling up on and catching a sneaky nap Grin

I have a swivel one that's comfy, the cat thinks it's his though so I don't use it that often!

Could I please ask politely how old posters above talking about struggling to curl up are? I am on the way to geting older but not there yet so just curious when these niggles start to occur....

@PickledWilly thank you! That does look lovely & cosy! How long have you had it? How are the cushions & fabric holding up?

TiaraBoo · 25/09/2022 08:31

I’ve got this one from DFS in a different colour. It’s in clearance now. It’s so comfortable and I have a matching half moon footstool.

It’s the best seat in my house!

We love it! We also have the chaise sofa that matches, they are amazing. We have had it all for 2 years and it is immaculate. Be warned - dust and hair accumulate on it, you will need to hoover it thoroughly weekly. And each time you do, it looks brand new again. Cats also don't scratch it (we have v scratchy cats), and baby wipes remove anything spilled on it, and it doesn't water mark

Maybe you need a cuddler sized chair (a chair and a half if you like)?
Had one of ours for 25yrs (bought from Furniture Workshop when they existed), had it professionally refilled & recovered a few years ago and it is still going strong and VERY comfortable.
Plenty of room to curl up in (when the dog hasn't already pinched it) or you can sit sideways.

Ordered a new (corner) suite for the living room last weekend but decided to go for "normal" sized chairs as it is a more formal room and not generally used for lolling around.

We also have the Patterdale @PickledWilly in pink, not velvet though. I can confirm it's insanely cosy.

Well I've learned something. I thought a snuggle chair was a small sofa for 2 people to snuggle up on 😆

Oooh, no - a snuggle is definitely to be occupied solo. Bugger off and leave me in comfortable bliss!
