Where can I buy a washable sofa?!

I have DS1 who is 3 and DS2 who is 9months and after DS1 who I thought was potty trained left something brown and smelly mashed into my (thankfully old) sofa, I’ve accepted that I need to buy a new one which has washable cushion covers.

I’ve found the ikea options, but if I’m honest I don’t love them and the colours are really limited. Could anyone please suggest any others they know of (in the uk)?!

There are plenty of places to buy alternative covers for Ikea sofas in an endless range of fabrics and colours. Bemz for example has some great ones but they cost more than the IKEA ones as they are made to order. You can buy the IKEA frames without covers if you want by just getting the codes for the bits you want and picking them up in store. We have the Stocksund sofa and chairs and they are wearing well.

Thanks @SarahMused i had no idea people sold replacement covers, that’s great!

My DFS sofa which is nearly 8 years old has machine washable covers - I've washed them loads over the years - toddler twins 😬 plus cats - and they wash really well and haven't faded

We have a futon from Futon Company which has washable/replaceable covers and if the mattress gets really trashed can be replaced. We used to put a waterproof cot sheet and a towel between the mattress and the cover in the high risk years.

We have a Nabru sofa, which has replaceable covers which are really reasonably priced and they have something like 100 different colour/fabric options. They also have tonnes of storage inside the seats if, like me, you never have enough storage space

Trouble is you don't just need washable sofas because liquids get through the covers into the cushions. We're trying to find a proper answer to this but so far best bet seems to be second hand leather then get what you actually want once they've left home. I've also seriously considered one of those sofa toppers aimed at dogs as they are presumably absorbent.

SofaSofa have some nice styles with removable, washable covers.

I've ordered the Ikea Vimle on the basis it can be stripped completely and washed. Replacement covers can be bought but for what I've ordered would be about £500 to replace all the covers.

Some videos on Youtube of them being stripped and washed which are strangely therapeutic to watch.
