Double bed for stoic tweenager

Treating DD to a double bed as she moved house AND started high school in the same week, and was a star. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive make, that doesn't end up being super-creaky like her kiddy bed was? Open to all ideas. TIA.

Have you looked at IKEA?

The Bonn one from John Lewis is very nice. We have it in our spare room and it looks more expensive than it is. It's £229

My DD loves her futon from the Futon Company. I wouldn't be able to get out of it! Modern, stylish, reasonably good price and good service. They do lots of other things too

Three great ideas already - thank you! Will check them out. Not creaking is my priority, but I'm guessing that's mostly down to me to actually assembly it properly...

I've just come on to ask the same question so watching this with interest! Where does one buy a bed that is good quality but not exorbitant?
OP, have you been online? I find the randomness of choice overwhelming.

I think a futon and associated bits like side tables, lamps etc, is quite "cool"!

Just get an ordinary divan bed. Please not a futon, like sleeping on concrete.

i've had many IKEA beds over the years and have never had an issue with creakiness.

i have just redone my 11 year old dd room as we moved and she changed schools too. I bought this from IKEA as it’s an all in one box brilliant value and includes the slats. You just need a mattress. I’m so pleased with it although daffy to put together perfectly easy and looks so good.
