Need help on fireplaces in modern house living room

Modern house. Took our old electric fireplace. Now it looks weird without it. Can’t have a gas fire because of boring reasons and the wall without a fireplace or a surround or a mantle shelf just looks odd.

Husband is saying why bother with a fire that we really rarely use and it’s an electric one anyway but we really don’t know what to do.

Room too narrow to another bit of furniture there.
Any tips? Will put up pics when I get up.

A bioethanol fire basket is great as there is no upkeep and you can use it if you want to for a real flame which creates a cosy atmosphere on dark nights in the winter.

There are some nice little electric fires at Dunelm that look like log burners.

Never heard of bioethanol fires but thanks for the tip as it's just what we need for our empty fireplace that we haven't been able to agree on!

We are the same. Have fire place which is never used as house insulated/not needed. But a blank wall looks odd, want a focus point that isn’t a tv. So now help sorry but you are not alone!
