Please can I ask for wood burner inspiration...?

Evening all!

We are replacing our open fire with a wood burner and removing the surrounding fire place. I need to chose tiles for the hearth and either a colour to paint alcove or tile the alcove as well 🤔
I quite like a patterned tile...
Does anyone have any ideas or photos to share?

We have a slate hearth and the fireplace insert is painted the same colour as the whole wall. We decided against tiles because if you get fed up of them you can’t simply retile without a whole heap of work! We’ve painted twice though.

This isn’t our fire but it’s what our hearth looks like!

God knows! It’s years old..

DH thinks the mirror came from John Lewis, but it’s well over 10 years old.

Love ours, not long done, can't wait to use over winter!

Taken on my iPad so it’s poor quality.

I ordered a few patterned tile samples but in reality the print quality on the porcelain was crap so we’re going for Staffordshire blue quarry tiles. Bit boring but nice and neutral and very hardwearing (I hope).

@Tulipvase another gold mirror, I need to get on this bandwagon!
