I like the idea of sage/olive green walls (not sure how to describe it, sort of a greyish green I think I’m looking for). Just looking online and things like F&B Pigeon or Blue Grey, or Duluth Overtly Olive look nice. But if we did that on all the walls what colour curtains and duvet covers would go do you think? I’m not keen on white or light cream as that’s what we currently have and they seem to look grubby really quickly (especially on DH’s sideHmm). We have a grey carpet which we’re not planning on changing.

Also we have always had polycotton sheets and sort of flat feeling duvets. I really want a lovely squishy ‘crunchy’ duvet and nice feeling sheets and covers. If anyone has any recommendations/links for the type of duvet and bedding it is best to buy that would also be fab! Our budget is more towards the Dunelm and B&Q end rather than John Lewis and Farrow and Ball.

Anyone?

I had a room that colour( I think it actually was overtly olive I plumped for after trying about 50 testers 🤣) and it started with charcoal / dark grey curtains ( matched the carpet ) which was a sort of smart formal look ( office) then it became my babies room and I couldn't be doing with decorating the walls again but the new curtains were a multicoloured pattern in all pastels , mainly pink, which worked and gave the room a lighter quite feminine look. Not sure if thats helpful !

We’ve got green walls a bit like cold sage, no yellow undertone, carpet is in marching green colour, curtains are grey with very dark grey. Duvet cover is light gray with a bit of dark grey and yellow (from Dunelm). I think it goes together well. So basically it’s mostly green, variations of grey and a bit of yellow.

Ah so grey and either pink or yellow might work. Thank you, that's helpful. I've got Sioux tester colours on the wall at the minute and it's so difficult to decide.

Have a look at F&B Mizzle, which is a lovely calm grey/green shade.

Used it in our spare room and it looks fab.

Have a look at the John Lewis Anyday sheets. I think they change the range frequently, so if you see what you like, buy it, but ours are cotton at polycotton prices

@Davethecat2000 mizzle does look nice. What colour curtains/blinds do you have?

We have grey green walls in our bedroom. I love it so much that I have had it redecorated the same . Our curtains are citrine, a sort of yellow green. They used to be dull gold silk, but the dog ate them. We have green and cream bedding , and 1 set of gold brocade that looks nice but a bit out there. I’m looking for a new duvet cover , torn between retro florals and dark green linen. TKmaxx currently have a beautiful green set with the Manchester bee on it.
it really works as a neutral, can’t think of much that wouldn’t work with it.very peaceful

Ugliest and dullest view of our bedroom. I haven’t tidied!

Davethecat2000 · 05/09/2022 19:37

@WeeMadArthur1 I have a very neutral coloured blind which I think works well with the Mizzle walls.

@Davethecat2000 that looks lovely. Very calming.

We've just done our bedroom in a sage green feature wall and light pink on the other walls.

AgnestaVipers · 05/09/2022 19:48

I think our green is mizzle, too.

crossandperplexed · 05/09/2022 19:52

I am looking at dulux heritage colours - sage green walls, grey carpet/bedding. The furniture and wardrobes are white and I cannot be bothered repainting those. I think green is a very calming colour.

Davethecat2000 · 05/09/2022 20:26

Thanks @WeeMadArthur1

I like the colour a lot and was going to use it in our bedroom initially, but then fell in love with Sulking Room Pink, so went with Mizzle in the spare room instead!

I’ve painted my room 3 times in the last 10 years. Am happy with what I’ve gone for on the third attempt! I’ve gone for a neural Portland Stone by Little Green (and woodwork is Loft White). I mix it up every six months with curtains and bedding - rich, warm colours for autumn/winter and fresh/bright colours for Spring/summer. Am really happy, feels like I get a new room twice a year.

Neutral, not neural.
