Will painters move furniture?

We would like to have the interior of our flat painted, but we have lots of heavy furniture. Will a decorator move it? We are pensioners and not physically capable of moving furniture around.

You need to talk to them as some might do this but most won't IME. Personally I would get a firm in to move everything before they come, then book them to come and move it back once finished.

You only need the furniture moving into the centr eof the room usually - are you getting ceilings done too? That may cause more issues. Is it possible to move everything into one room and get everything else done, then do the last room another time?

We had to empty ours for our decorator. Was an absolute nightmare.

Whenever we’ve had decorators, we’ve had to empty the room as much as possible. If wardrobes, chests of drawers etc were too big to move out of a room, they had to be emptied so that the decorator could move them within the room. We are a family of four and DH and I are in our 59s.

However my parents are in their 70s/80s and when they’ve had decorators recently, the decorators have been much more understanding that due to their age and health conditions, they can’t do as much themselves. I have no idea whether that is factored into the price they pay, but the decorators have worked with the room and moved all furniture down one end and then to the other end or the middle or whatever.

We are not in our 59s. We are in our 40s!!
