What’s the best length for curtains?

I’m part way through decorating my hall, stairs & landing and plan to change the curtains. What would be the best curtain length for this window of n the half landing? The curtains were originally full length but after one too many encounters with our old cat, we had the bottoms chopped off. Should I stick with this length or to the floor?

I’d have them tie-backs to frame the window then the length wouldn’t matter

I'd use a blind. Personally find curtains on landings annoying, partly irrational, partly they seem to always get in the way/look messy.

Blind and decorative full length curtains each side with tie backs.

I agree, Roman blind.

I have Roman blinds on all my other ‘flat’ / non-bay windows so that is a possible solution. It’s a pretty big window so I was thinking lined curtains might be better from a heat retaining point of view. Do you think that will make much difference to keeping the heat in?

I like the length of those curtains. Full length would also work but you need practicality and the length you have is great, and looks good.

I agree a blind here would be better, but if it’s about heat so you need curtains, full-length: either “kissing” the floor or puddling. The chopped-off length always looks a bit unfinished/temporary – like you’re waiting for the correct curtains but these will do in the meantime. Sorry!

Full length curtains.

@stuntbubbles they started life as puddle length but our old cat took a shine to them and started using them as a toilet so they were swiftly cut down!
