Preface this with I know I'm not going to get anything great at my budget but whatever I get won't be used very often.

I'm looking for a sofa bed for my flat, needs to be not too big due to access issues. Looking at a budget of maybe 300 quid.

Will be the only sofa, although I've lived here without one for 6 months, and occasional guest bed.

I think I've narrowed it down to either www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/products/livia-sofa-bed/ or www.homebase.co.uk/freya-folding-sofa-bed-grey/13253497.html so especially appreciate experience with either but also welcome suggestions from elsewhere.

My car is tiny so need delivery, else i would have got one off Facebook marketplace.

My other consideration is, am I better off getting just a sofa - maybe www.argos.co.uk/product/4642811 seems OK reviews - and then sleep on the floor when I have guests?

Have you thought about second hand? I've certainly sold beds at bargain basement prices so it might be worth looking for sofa beds. Good luck

@Igmum I have looked but I don't think I'd fit anything in my car. And the ones in my local charity shops which deliver are the big kind which would be awkward getting into the flat

That was my first instinct though!

Have you looked at this? It breaks your budget in this size but not the smaller one. I did a lot of research last year and ended up getting this - very happy with it both as a bed (though I did splash out on a good mattress topper too) and a sofa.

Realise it's very similar design to the Homebase version.

I'd get a sofa, how often are you expecting to have guests. Cheap / budget sofa beds don't make comfy sofas or beds from experience.

Get a blow up bed for guests?

We have the homebase freya sofa bed in our kids games room. It's a little firm to sit on as a sofa but the kids like it. The bed is very comfortable, I've slept on it myself. Its not too wide though so a couple might find it difficult, we have had 2 kids together on it and that was fine.
It's well put together and the fabric is nice.

We have a version of the Made/Homebase one - it's so hard and there's nowhere to lean. We have another sofa and really got it so we have the flexibility of the bed (also very hard - slightly more bearable with a memory foam mattress topper). I really wouldn't go for anything without arms if it's the only sofa you'll have

Could you not get a cheaper one off Marketplace, below budget, then use some of your budget for somebody who advertises "man and van" to deliver to you?

Thanks! Think that one will drop down the list a bit. Am leaning towards just a sofa and then deal with my infrequent pvernight visitors another way.

Could you try 2nd hand? Charity shops like BHF will deliver and you can get something for about £50. Delivery probably won't be that.
Or you could try Freecycle or Freegle, then either enlist or hire a van.

Have you looked on the ikea website? I have a couple of good ones from them in the past
