Patio door blinds,curtains, what?

We are buying a house soon with a large kitchen/ diner and sitting/ family area. The kitchen has one large patio door, the dining area then has windows and the sitting area has another patio door out to the back garden plus another window to the side. Its all south facing and looks like a big sun trap. The vendors dont have anything on any of the doors or windows but i think it needs something to block out the sun in the summer and to make it a bit cosier at night. I dont know what would work. I actually like curtains but curtains wouldnt work in the kitchen bit and i think it would look odd if its mismatched as its a multi purpose open plan area.
Any suggestions?

Why can’t you have curtains in the kitchen? I have large bifold doors in my kitchen and thermal lined floor length curtains (which are a godsend in this heat)

Perfect fit blackout blinds?

Lemonblossom - the patio door is next to the oven.

We have light voile curtains for our bi folds - perfect for taking the edge off the heat of the sun but doesn't take away the light. They look contemporary, not like granny net curtains!

Ours is also a sun trap and we also have to have a large parasol up outside the doors from about midday to keep the room a reasonable temperature in very hot weather. Ultimately we probably need some kind of shade structure outside.
