Anyone removed molding/architrave from their ceiling?

It is in the middle of the ceiling creating a square with about 30cm between it and the walls.
I want it removed as we are putting up a wall to block of the rooms but plan on making the living room smaller so there is more space on the other side.
Just trying to get an idea of the plastering situation once this is removed? Is it likely to make a huge mess of the ceiling?

I’m afraid so. We had something similar on our living room ceilings in the last 2 houses! Our last house it was quite a big (strange!) design they had stuck to the ceiling but we were having to re plaster the walls anyway so it wasn’t a huge deal to have the ceiling added. This house DH has managed to buy some sort of pre mixed plaster and has smoothed it on himself, most of it came off cleanly but, typically, there were a couple of big chunks of plaster that came off . He’s managed to fill and smooth those patches in so we haven’t had to have the whole ceiling done. I suppose it does depend on how they have stuck it up but ours seemed to be a mix of some sort of bonding and a few big nails.
