I have never had a brand new bed. I'm now in my 40s and looking for a king size bed and mattress. But I don't know where to start! I guess I need it delivered so there is that. I'm in the south of England. Can anyone recommend anywhere please? Low to mid range budget

We’ve been very happy with a bed frame from John Lewis and a mattress from Dreams.

I wouldn’t buy a mattress without going and trying it first.

IKEA is good quality at a reasonable price. But I definitely agree that you have try it out, not just order online.

I really like Taurus Beds - they’re London based and make wooden beds (including with storage options underneath) and some matching bedroom furniture. Pretty sure it’s all U.K. made. We have had a double and a king from them and reluctantly got rid of the double after 15 years for space reasons; still in great nick.

I bought my mattress from John Lewis (not exactly the same but very similar) and my bed frame from Loft Living. It's a boutique store in London but temporarily closed! Used to be in Selfridges.

your biggest expense should be your mattress, spending approx 8 hours every night on it get the best you can afford.
Go to any
John Lewis bedding dept and get their expert advice what's available for your budget.
Test each one for about 15 mins laying down and don't go buying one when tired.
You can get a bed anywhere , even Ikea.

For the bedframe just google and pick one you like, there are so many online companies.

The mattress is much trickier. I was very pleased with the bamboo one I got from
Happy Beds. But in the past I have bought one from an online matresses company and it absolutely stank. They wouldn’t take it back or reply to my messages. So choose mattress company with care!!
