What colour should I paint my kitchen?

I've got cream gloss doors, brown wood effect worksurfaces and brown stone effect flooring. The walls are currently duck egg blue and while I used to love it, I'm bored of it now and having taken some shelves down now it needs repainting. I was originally thinking grey but DH has said it won't work with the brown and cream, they are too warm. I was thinking of a cappuccino colour but having tried a tester pot (Dulux Soft Truffle) it's too close to the work surfaces and floor. It's a very small room so it has to be light but I like colour. Any suggestions?

how about a mustard colour? Or maybe an olive green? Can you post a photo so we can see the tone of the wood etc?

What about a soft, pale blue like F&B Borrowed Light or a close match in decent paint.

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/07/2022 08:35

My thinking is complementary colours to the tones of the wood colours.

We have similar cupboards and our walls are F&B mizzle

Teal on one 'feature' wall and cream on the others. Or a very pale pink likes Wickes 'blush'.

What's the lighting like? Is the room N/S/E/W facing?
You could pick the most stylish colours around but in the wrong light it'll look awful.

We had ours painted green this week to freshen up an existing kitchen as the 5yo paint made the room feel tired and worn out.

Oh I like the look of F&B mizzle.

I'm in a very similar situation as I have cream cupboards, and dark worktop - and the walls are currently pale pink. It doesn't really work at all for me as no contrast.

I'd been planning navy blue, but have just seen some magazine articles about green paint in kitchen, and I thought that could work quite well with cream cupboards.

Strong, dark colours can close in a space so bear that in mind.

Similar kitchen to yours, I painted walls in melon sorbet, a lovely fresh pale lime green.

F&B breakfast room green is a lovely colour. Perfect for a kitchen imo. Really uplifting with the right amount of depth. Plenty of pics of it on Google.

I agree with green. Also some pinks, more the salmon pinks.

A soft sage green might be nice.

BirdWatch · 24/07/2022 06:01

Green would be great with the brown & cream.

Lindisfarne1 · 24/07/2022 06:31
