Possibly you aren't buying the whole property but most of it? For £3.5M I'd want the entire house! Weird phrasing if you are buying it all though

Exactly that. The wings either side will be separate residences, which is why there are garden walls/hedges between. The principal part is the biggest, grandest bit - often the central building

It’s lovely, though the interior is a bit glum and depressing. But I’d have something detached rather than a mid-terrace if I’d that kind of budget!

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime that's the sort of thing I console myself with when I look at massive houses I can't afford. Can you imagine getting in your car and then realising you left your mobile by the bed. Probably a 5 minute round trip to get it, very annoying!

This one is gorgeous. Yes, very Jane Austen. It reminds me of Longborn from the from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.

Hard to believe bits of it haven't been used for an adaptation.
