How can I choose a colour that's a bit darker?

I'm choosing a paint colour and have one where the tone is right but I want a darker shade. I don't know how to find it.

It's a Crown trade paint called English muffin It doesn't appear on any paint chart that I can find except one where all the colours are a similar shade. It's probably the darkest one already. It has a code of A9850G.

I've tried just looking but really I would just be guessing.

Is there a way to work it out from the code?

I'd talk to the paint specialists in b and q. I have always found them very helpful.

Thank you. We don't have one but I'll go to similar.

It's so frustrating! I just want to look at it on one of those strips where the colours get progressively darker, but I can't find one!

www.crownpaintsprofessional.com/colour/scan-codes/

This page explains the codes I think.

I know you're not near a B and Q but the one near us has a section with a massive selection of colour cards and a light box with different types of lighting to test your colour under. Then you can get the paint mixed up the colour you decide on either matt or silk. The brand/system is called valspar . Might be worth googling if there's anywhere near you that does it

I have heard good things about Valspar. Thank you @Noseylittlemoo

Thank you @Augend23 . I missed that. I'll see if I can work it out.

If you go to b and q for valspa paint( or a crown centre i think) and yiu take an item that is the colour you want , they have a machine that scans it and it can make that shade.
Eg i took.my wallpaper and they scanned that.

You could get two paint samples and mix them together to get a perfect colour swatch, then get that mixed up.

Have you tried the Dulux app? There is a colour picker tool that will match the colour to the closest Dulux colour and then suggest combinations, including tonal combinations. So I just pulled up a picture of Crown English Muffin on Goggle and the Dulux app showed Soft Truffle as a darker tonal match.
