Help me finish of this ‘room’

I always do the same, get 95% of the way through a room then get bored and move onto something else! Recently redecorated the downstairs loo but need some inspiration for finishing touches. I need a blind and towels but do I keep it monochrome with white or grey (don’t want black) or introduce a colour? Then also need a light shade / fitting and a mirror plus possibly something to go in the space behind the door.

How about turquoise towels and accessories? For a blind choose a textured white and you can easily and cheaply change the colour of the accessories in the future.

Eddielizzard · 18/06/2022 16:22

I would find a nice plant and put in plant stand. A mirror above the sink. You can get lovely ones with a little shelf underneath. A couple of nice paintings / print.

I was really trying to work out why your walls and floor were in the same pattern. It's been a long day!

Justkeeppedaling · 18/06/2022 16:28

A rug, a mirror, a picture and a pot plant should do it. I wouldn't put a blind up as it would make the room too dark.

It's a nice room.

SpaceJamtart · 18/06/2022 16:30

If you dont want black, maybe a navy blue, for the towels and frame around the mirror?

Squashpocket · 18/06/2022 16:32

Mirror above sink, plant in a pot stand in the corner, 2 or 3 nice prints on the wall opposite the mirror, towels in one of the colours in the wallpaper, jobs a good un.

SpaceJamtart · 18/06/2022 16:33

Have you got a medicine cabinet elsewhere? If not thats what I would put on the wall near the door, the same colour as whatever colour you introduce and then put a plant on it.
If your not a live plant person, maybe the fake ikea ivy

Me too lol! Thought it was a desk at the very edge of a carpeted room with marching walls .

FayCarew · 18/06/2022 16:41

Marching walls. Patterned floor and ceiling.

Am I the only one not partying?

You need a nice bog brush and a pedestal mat

😂🤣🤣 me too!

Littlemissprosecco · 18/06/2022 16:51

I’d do for pale pink and or teal, with a little chandelier and a glamorous mirror.
what you’ve done is really lovely op

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 18/06/2022 16:57

I'd finish it like this OP:

  • round oak mirror to tie in with the floor
  • black ceiling light with a similar vibe to your radiator
  • pot plant on a wooden stand behind the door
  • no blind
  • grey towels to pick up the (I think grey?) pattern in the wallpaper

I've recently changed the towels to deep moss green in a grey bathroom and they look lovely. Alternatively a deep blush pink. A bit of bronze perhaps on a mirror and plants ?

Me too I thought the toilet was a futuristic desk. I was thinking for ages how did they get the carpet and wallpaper to line up.

I think a plant on a nice stand would look nice and a mirror like a poster said upthread. I'd go with a round black edged mirror and black plant stand. Like these.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve no idea why the photos are the wrong way round! I like the idea of a mirror above the sink with a shelf and I like the light @ImplementingTheDennisSystem posted.

The wallpaper is black on a white background. We have lots of plants in the house so I might move a few around.

Definitely no loo brush!

You WANT poo stains?!

LemonSwan · 18/06/2022 18:09

For me it needs a colour. Something bright but not vulgar - maybe even a bit distressed.

I would get white blind and white towels and out the colour on a painted pot and matching painted mirror and picture frames.

Maybe F&B Arsenic - light but bright and a bit unusual but very classic. kind of reminds me of the colour of green rust.

I have the F&B colour fan so I’ll try Arsenic against the wallpaper.

I might go with a big curtain of a very light weight fabric, maybe something in green or blue. Say a navy blue sheer curtain on a metal pole that all draws to one side.

and definitely a mirror and some pictures in navy frames and a plant.

and a loo brush.

Whyisitsodifficult · 20/06/2022 22:51

I’d paint the panelling, dado and skirting black. Then get some copper accessories, plants and mirror. Why is your toilet roll so far from the toilet?

ArtVandalay · 20/06/2022 23:04

Needs a plant or 2.

No loo brush and definitely no turquoise accessories. That would be a fright😂

TattiePants · 21/06/2022 08:32

@Whyisitsodifficult i don’t think the loo roll holder is far away from the loo but perhaps that’s because we’re all very tall and long limbed?

@parietal I do like the idea of long floaty curtains but worry about the combination of being very close to the loo and a DS with dyspraxia!!

I would get neutral blinds and towels, dark grey probably then I’d get a large mirror for the wall and would also put up some colourful prints to bring the colour back in. Maybe a nice plant as well.
