Hi,

Hoping to get some help or inspiration from someone.

I'm wanting to decorate my living, the problem is its quite a large room with very high ceilings but a relatively small window in comparison to the room. It doesn't get very much light at all.

When I've decorated in the past I've been very disappointed in the final result, the colours always look much different than the test areas we do, I assume because its in a bigger area, not sure though.

The colours I've looked at so far, just to give an idea of what sort of thing I'm looking for are (all in Dulux although absolutely open to other brands)

Calico
Natural Hessian

Natural Wicker
Summer Linen
Egyptian Cotton

Tested them, all look so different on my wall. Some looked more yellow, some a little too pinky and I just want something light and fresh and neutral.

Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just going to have to suck it up because of my tiny window?

Thanks for any help in advance!

I like Egyptian Cotton best from that list, it seems to be exactly what you want in being light, fresh and neutral without the yellow or pink undertones. Not too beige or creamy either.

I know you only asked about paint colours but could you or would you consider making the window bigger? My friend had a window that she made into French doors. I am not suggesting that you do that, although you could but you could ask a builder or window company to quote you for enlarging the current window which seems to be the main issue.

Do you have a picture? And what is the orientation of the room? Have a look at the F&B site - they have suggestions for different orientations. How about a white? If you want luminous is unbeatable.
