Small bedroom painted dark- including ceiling

My son has a vision for his room to be painted a dark colour with his favourite marvel toys on the wall and lit up.

I thought that sounded a really good idea, he's chosen Teal tension Dulux www.dulux.co.uk/en/colour-details/teal-tension

I'm thinking of painting the ceiling too for an enveloping feel. It is quite a small room. I know it is a risk but has anyone done that before?

My son's room is painted in Stiffkey Blue (similar shade to yours) including the ceiling, bookcases and woodwork. Similarly he has marvel pictures up. It looks really good!

We do have some orange accessories - a chair, light and bedding. And also a iighter coloured rug.

He loves it.

Oh wow that sounds great @HelenHywater!

Yes I was wondering about carpet etc- that's a great idea to pick out a really bright colour there. I hadn't thought about that.

Funny these little boys with their great design ideas!

Ok I'm feeling good about this now, thank you!

Try it, it sounds good. Worst case scenario is you have to paint out the ceiling.

It actually makes the ceiling look higher if you paint it the same colour. A white ceiling and a dark room brings the ceiling down.

We have painted (black) floorboards, but he has one of those cream Berber rugs on it.

Not a bedroom but we've done similar in two of our bathrooms. The corners really do disappear but I'd say one bathroom does feel smaller. You'll need bright accessories but I guess the Marvel toys will do that. Sounds fabulous.
