Will I regret open kitchen shelves?

Will everything get disgustingly greasy and dusty even if I put frequently used things on them?

I've had mine for a year and a half and I love them.
I mostly only have things I use often on them, so everything constantly gets washed. The things I don't use often would have needed a wash before use anyway .

Only my plates bowls and glasses are out, they look great- makes me happy every day

I have one kitchen shelf, a lovely piece of messmate (an Australian hardwood) and use it for vintage ware - think of the stuff you see in the kitchen in "Father Brown". Everything else is in cupboards.

Yes one shelf for decorative items is the way to go, actual kitchen ware in cupboards unless you don’t mind it getting sticky and dusty.

Yes, unless you don't mind cleaning them and their contents every week. They look great in phots and on TV but in reality are just dust and grease traps.

I have some jars on shelves with dried stuff

Every now and then i empty a jar, dishwasher it, rotate.

Yes. You will be a slave to washing everything, frequently, and they look untidy if you use them to store more than a handful of carefully curated items.

Yep

It think depends where the shelves are in the kitchen - further from the hob and with items you use often should be ok. I used to have open shelves and they were not greasy, but to be honest we hardly fry anything so maybe that has an effect too.
